Its that time of the year again. November doesnt just herald turkey feasts and the beginning of the shopping season, its also time for the Tabletop Gaming News Readers Choice Awards, your opportunity to pick the best miniatures and games released this year.
This year readers at TGN can vote on products in one of six categories:
* 2007 Best Fantasy miniature
* 2007 Best Pulp/Horror miniature
* 2007 Best Sci-fi miniature
* 2007 Best Historical miniature
* 2007 Best terrain/accessory
* 2007 Best Game or Expansion
We have also posted a gallery with photos of all of the nominees.
All of these pages are accessible from the main 2007 Reader's Choice page on TGN.
This year we've added a category specifically for Pulp and Horror figures and opened the Game award to game expansions as well as new rule sets.
As we did last year, voting will be held in two rounds. The first round from November 25th 2007 to December 1st 2007 will help trim each of the categories from 15 nominees (10 in the case of the terrain/accessory category) to a top 5.
The second round of voting, from December 2nd to December 9th will be to pick the winner of each category.
Nominees were picked from products released from November 20th 2006 (the start of the 2006 Reader's Choice Awards) to November 10th 2007. More than 100 products were trimmed down to 70 releases, in six categories, and now its time for miniature and gaming fans to help pick the best releases from the last twelve months.

aha, now I see why you wanted some better pics of my Moroccans!!!
Thanks to whoever nominated Anglian Miniatures, its great to get your stuff recognised.
Some great stuff in there this year, we really are quite fortunate with the amount of high quality figures and vehicles that are available to buy.

This year the nominees were picked from a list of 100+ releases by the staff at TGN.
Last year we did open nominations but found that they tended to be from more popular games and focused on releases from the end of the year. So quite a few really good minis from the beginning of the year were not nominated.
The dreaded "Acadamy Awards Syndrome".
So we went through all of the releases from the last twelve months and picked the ones we though stood out and then voted on a top 15 to narrow it down to the nominees that are in the lists now.

Hi,
wow, very nice. Didn't sculpt any of the figures but I did paint one of the sets you have up for voting.

Its a bullshit thing that they have on the accounts that they never mentioned when I was signing up.
Basically if I use too much of the CPU my account is suspended for a few minutes.
Its ridiculous and appears to be totally random.
The site should be back up in a bit.

After a series of comments and complaints about the nominees this year I have decided to scrap the existing nominees and open the process up to a public nomination process.
Nominations are open from now until November 30th at which point they will be tabulated and the first round of voting will commence on December 1st.

the beauty of the internet: it makes it too easy to complain about anything & everything
take a leaf from the oscars and ignore anybody elses opinion.
- - -
although being nosey i'd love to know what they complained about?
(things not included no doubt?)

Not really an option in my case

Things not included, which things were, the process itself.
Ultimately it was easier to just give everyone the opportunity to nominate products themselves
