some 1/48 looks ok and some doesn't, it depends what you're after, there's also Corgi/Solido at 1/50-ish.

try Chieftain Models for 1/56.
BAM also do a wide selection of vehicles.

1/48 Tamiya Hetzer

1/48 Tamiya steyr, and a corgi kubel, Tamiya protze truck

Hi Harold,
Mr BAM would be the best to answer this, or one of our resident wargamers re size.

http://www.boltactionminiatures.co.uk/shop.php?pageNum_rs=0&totalRows_rs=33&CatID=7

I personally prefer Tamiya kits, as you have the fun of putting them together, painting etc, I like the size too, the quality is awesome, however there are many more choices in the 1/56 scale
See Chieftan BAM Artizan etc EBob
